The Rumbachiva or Chiva Rumbera in Spanish is a typical Colombian bus adapted to rural public transport, especially considering the mountainous geography of the Andean region. The origin of the Rumbachiva goes back to the early 20th century in the Antioquia Department (Colombia), where an engineer and a mechanic, Luciano Restrepo and Roberto Tisnés respectively, both Colombians, built the first model which at first was very basic, the newer models were modified with a roof rack so the passengers could transport their goods.

As time went on, Chivas stopped being part of the public transport and started being a tourist attraction, gaining lots of recognition to the point of being named cultural heritage of Colombia in 2008.
